SWEDISH LEVEL A1

Goal:

Level A1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Course aims: 

to learn the foundations of the Swedish language in order to make yourself understood and to understand others in everyday situations, for example, when greeting people, ordering something, giving and asking for information.

Contents:

Speaking‐ 

· basic phrases to introduce yourself, greet people, talk about how you feel etc. (‐Hej! Eva heter jag./Det här är…/‐Hur är det?/‐Bara bra, tack.)

· classroom phrases, asking for and giving information (‐Vad heter det på svenska?/‐Kan du säga det en gång till./‐Ursäkta, hur kommer vi till museet?/‐Ni kan ta buss 2 mot...)

· talking about yourself, family, free time, studies and work (‐Mina bröder bor i Nederländerna./‐Jag brukar lyssna på music och titta på filmer på datorn./‐Jag har studerat på Tekniska högskolan./‐Jag jobbar på ett IT‐företag.)

· basic phrases for shopping, ordering in a cafe and restaurant etc. (‐Jag skulle vilja prova de här byxorna. / ‐En latte, tack.)

· basic phrases for planning free time activities (‐Jag har två biljetter till Stadsteatern. Vill du följa med? – Ja, gärna!) · talking about Sweden and your own country using basic words (Sverige ligger i norra Europa./I Schweiz finns det höga berg.)

· talking about everyday things in the present and past (Ibland promenerar jag i parken./Igår ringde vi och beställde pizza.) Listening –

· practise understanding basic, naturally spoken Swedish (‐Hej, hur är det?/‐Vi ses vid sjutiden!) Pronunciation –  

· stress (long vowel sounds and consonants) and intonation

· vowel and consonant sounds, REDUKTIONER and ASSIMILATIONER

· become familiar with the differences between spoken and written language

Reading –  

· basic dialogues, texts, advertisements, text messages and e‐mails Writing –  

· simple e‐mails and text messages (Hej! Hur är det med dig? Här är allt bra.)

· describing yourself and your daily life using basic vocabulary (Jag bor i Sverige med min sambo Nils. Jag är ekonom och jobbar på… Varje dag…)

· describing a celebrity (… var en berömd konstnär. Han/hon föddes i...)

· describing various purchases (För två år sedan var jag i... Där köpte jag... Den var...)

· describing your own country (... ligger i södra Europa och gränsar till...)

· the alphabet · numbers · telling the time, days of the week, the date and months · something about Sweden, Swedish culture and famous Swedes ·
