The HD 6990 holds a massive 4GB of GDDR5 video memory surpassing anything previously deployed in the "Northern Islands" series. This provides games and other applications with extra room to produce massively enhanced visuals. The huge memory also provides DirectX™ 11 tessellation operations with the room to provide high quality textures even when there is a great demand on resources.

The ASUS HD 6990 comes with the engine clock at 830MHz and ASUS Exclusive Voltage Tweak, over-volting utility, allowing users to push clock speeds to as much as 50%* extra with the help of adequate cooling. Furthermore, with ASUS exclusive Voltage Tweak, this card can be pushed to run at up to 1245 MHz* for optimal sheer gaming performance.

The HD 6990 is a true power house, using dual HD 6970 cores on one printed circuit board, doubling the power whilst maintaining streamlined energy draw requirements. The two cores run in 2-way CrossFireX™ engaged by default on one board, eliminating inter-GPU latency and ensuring the fastest possible performance with the most bandwidth ever achieved on a single-board AMD-based card. Two HD 6990 cards can also be put together for instant quad CrossFireX™.

In addition, AMD Eyefinity™ multi-screen technology enables the driving of up to five monitors via a single HD 6990. This card also supports AMD HD3D™ technology for 3D gaming and movie watching on a compatible TV or monitor.
